In the worst hour of the worst season

He was walking-they were both walking-north.

She was sick with famine fever and could not keep up.
그녀는 굶주림으로 병들어 있었고 따라갈 수가 없었다
He lifted her and put her on his back.

He walked like that west and north.

Until at nightfall under freezing stars they arrived.

2연의 "도착했다"는 집에 도착했다는 말이겠죠.

끝에 어둠속에서 가장 잘 증명될 수 있다는 말은 아마도 .. 그들이 겪은 것은 언어로
묘사할 수 없고 따라서 "어둠속에" 두는 게 역설적으로 그 존재를 가장 확실히 "증명"
하는 거라는 뜻인 듯하다. 제목 "격리"도 그런 의미에서 해석할 수 있지 않을까 싶다.

1846년에서 1847년에 걸친 겨울에 아일랜드에 최악의 기근이 있었다.
