미국의 SF작가 레이 브래드버리(Ray Bradbury)의 단편소설 "The Long Rain"은 끝없는 비가 내리는 금성에서 Sun Dome(인공 태양이 설치되어 있는 돔 구조물)을 찾아가는 3명의 지구 요원들의 얘기다. 수주간 잠을 못 자고, 비에 시달리며 가던 중 결국 한 명(피카드)은 미치게 된다. Tasting of the sweet damp woods and of the rain one inch above the meadow: 상큼한 젖은 숲의 맛과 초지(草地) 1인치 위의 비의 내음 It was like feasting upon air. 그건 공기의 성찬(盛饌) 같았다. -- William Jay Smith, "Morels" 중. morel은 버섯의 일종인데 "야생버섯 중 가장 맛있다"고 한다. 주로 습한 곳에서 자라는 모양이다. 이 버섯을 캐러 다닐 때의 경험을 묘사한 것으로 보인다. "비의 내음(taste)"이라고 했지만, 비가 오고 있는 중은 아닐 테고 아마 그친 후일 것이다. '맛'과 '내음'은 여기선 물론 같은 뜻이다.
