Before the Rain

Minutes before the rain begins            비가 내리기 몇 분 전이면
I always waken, listening                   난 항상 깨어난다, 귀기울이며
to the world hold its breath,                세상이 숨죽이는 것에,
as if a phone had rung once in a far    마치 먼 방에서 전화벨이 한 번 울렸거나
room or a door had creaked                어둠 속에서 문이 삐걱거린 것처럼.
